The Office of Student Housing and Residence

The office of student housing and residence is responsible for overall administrative and financial systems and general building concerns. Our facilities manager works to ensure a safe and clean residence community for all residents. He handles:

  • Online maintenance request service for room and building repairs
  • Routine maintenance requests such as light bulbs, furnishings, plumbing
    and appliances
  • Managing cleaning services for kitchens, lounges, washroom/shower
    facilities and public areas
  • Student support for cleaning
  • Fire extinguisher inspections
  • Supporting for after 24 hours emergencies
Procedure for Requesting Maintenance

Have you got a light that won’t light up? A window that won’t be open? If something in your room or your common area is broken and in need of repair, residents should report these by themselves to either Inconvenience List located on next to the inspector office or Online Repair Request at the same URL with your dormitory application page. Please note that after filling out your list, or online request, then our engineers might visit your room or the place you ask for at 10:00~11:00 or 14:00~15:00 within 24 hours without further notification. Especially for the PC room, please inform us online or by writing inconvenience list next to the inspector office, whoever found the things to be repaired. Otherwise they will be left broken.

  • Most routine work orders will be addressed within 24 hours business days and you can also check the status of your request online or by inconvenience list.
  • Please wear clothes during the male workers working time as follows

in case of an emergency?

  • Contact your inspector office when you are locked out of your room or building or a clean-up involving human waste is required(e.g. vomiting in your common room)

Our inspector office are open 7 days a week for all year round, call for emergency assistance when needed (campus security, ambulance, fire, and police), provide general residence information, facilitate maintenance requests, and handle the mails.

  • Access to security staff and emergency services

  • Parcel and registered mail pick-ups
  • General information about campus
  • Call taxi and rental services of sports & household equipments are available in inspector office. Please refer to more details at our website on service menu.
  • Nonresidents access control to dormitory

Note:

All timing for the semester and just after midnight to 6am for vacation, all doors of dormitories are limited to access to entrance by scanning your student ID card.

  • Emergency access to rooms and replacement keys, so when you lose a dormitory key, please inform our inspector office and you need to pay 10,000 won for replacement of room door lock.

Hwahong hall coordinator office has opened since the first of September 2008. We serve as a resource to students living in the dormitory. Some of our roles are including community, mentoring, counseling, providing information, responding to emergencies, resolving conflicts, and being a friend. Some of our duties include planning, advertising for, and reporting difficulties of our residents. We work at our desk, perform daily “rounds” for each floors and public areas in the dorm, regularly post new notices or letters on the bulletin boards, and individually meet with the director of Ajou dormitory office, enforce rules and regulations, and maintain a well-balanced living environment.

Please, all are welcome to visit office to talk about your problems, difficulties, questions, or suggestions regarding your dorm life. We hope you guys communicate with us more actively for the better community lifestyle.

Custodial Services

We’re proud of our cleaning staffs, who work hard to clean and maintain your residence building. Our staffs are committed to providing a safe and healthy environment, and are available seven days a week in whole floors.

Our professional custodial team:

  • Cleans kitchens, lounges, washroom/shower facilities and public areas on a daily basis
  • Removes garbage and recycling items (plastic, glass and cans) from public areas

Note:

Each floor resident is responsible to keep the common areas clean after personal use. This is important aspect of community life, health, and personal hygiene. Our cleaning staffs definitely clean whole common areas every day (year- round), shift work for even holiday. Before complaining the common areas’ unsanitary, please clean them and clear off your trash by yourself. And Always Flush at the toilet, always clean the Table at the kitchen and don’t leave your personal stuff at the kitchen. Please be noted that if our common area is getting messy, our rules to our residents are getting strict. It might be happened that our kitchen will be closed because of your carelessness.

You are expected to:

  • Clean and maintain your own room
  • Keep common areas on your floor tidy and free of trash
  • Treat all furnishings and common areas responsibly
  • Remove your own garbage
