1) What departments and majors does Ajou offer to international students?

You can receive a Master’s or Doctoral degree from Ajou University in various fields, such as Engineering, Natural Sciences, Humanities, Social Sciences, Medicine, Pharmacy, etc.

2) What are the qualifications for international graduate admission?

Foreign students with foreign parents or those who have completed an entire curriculum of 16 years or
more in a foreign country
(Which is equivalent to elementary, junior high and high school as well as university in Korea),
and possessing linguistic (Korean or English) proficiency at a certain level, will be able to attend
lectures of the relevant department.


  • A. Language Ability Requirement:
    • 1. Certificate of level 3 or above in the Test of Proficiency in Korean (TOPIK) (However, those who
      entered the school with level 3 are required to obtain level 4 or above before graduation)
    • 2 Above 550 in TOEFL PBT, 210 in TOEFL CBT, 80 in TOEFL IBT, 5.5 in IELTS, 550 in TEPS or other state-authorized English proficiency test scores commensurate with the requirement

  • B. Master’s Programs:
    Those graduated or expect to graduate from a four-year college (university) in Korea or abroad

  • C. Doctoral Programs:
    Those graduated or expect to obtain a Master’s degree from a graduate school in Korea or abroad

  • D. Master’s / Doctoral Integrated Programs:
    Those graduated or expect to graduate from a four-year college (university) in Korea or abroad

3) What language abilities are required for graduate school admission?

Language Ability Requirement for Ajou University graduate school admission :

8) As an international degree student, can I obtain any scholarship from the school or from the
Korean government?

Ajou University provides international graduate students with Scholarship A (100% of the tuition fee) and Scholarship B (80% of the tuition fee).


You can also apply for a scholarship supported by the Korean government
(Korean Government Scholarship Program,KGSP).

Graduate Program(GSIS)

1) What is the Graduate School of International Studies? How does it differ from the General Graduate School?

The Graduate School of International Studies aims to nurture international professionals with global perspectives, whereas the Graduate School focuses more on nurturing academic and research oriented professionals. At the Graduate School of International Studies, all courses are offered in English and more than 95% of the students are international students.

2) What are the general qualifications required for the GSIS admission?

In order to be admitted, students should have a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution or be in the final semester to obtain a Bachelor’s degree at an internationally recognized university or college. Otherwise, students should have an equivalent qualification to a Bachelor’s degree which is approved by the Ministry of Education of their respective countries.

5) Does GSIS offer any scholarship to international students?

Yes. GSIS offers various scholarships for international students. GSIS Scholarships vary from 100% to, 75% and or 50% of the tuition fee waiver, based on their GPA scores.
