The Carbon-Zero Regional Energy Center, under the Basic Science Research Institute at our university, hosted the “Regional Energy Transition Forum for Carbon Neutrality.”
The forum was held on January 7 in a hybrid format, both online and offline, and organized by the university’s Carbon-Zero Regional Energy Center. The event began with an opening address by Professor HyungTaek Kim (Emeritus, Department of Energy Systems Research in Graduate School), who serves as the director of the Suwon City Energy Center, followed by greetings and congratulatory remarks from MoonJong Yoo, Suwon City Deputy Mayor; SeokHwan Cho, Chair of the Suwon City Council; and SiHoon Lee, President of the Korean Society of Energy and Climate Change.
The forum was structured around three sessions:
Regional Energy Transition
Suwon City Energy Transition
Comprehensive Discussion
Experts in energy policy and technology, municipal energy officers, and the general public attended the event.
Director Kim stated, “The Energy Center plans to carry out various activities to promote energy self-sufficiency in Suwon City. Through this forum, we hope to develop a practical roadmap for energy measures that will serve as the foundation of Suwon City’s carbon neutrality plan.”
The Suwon City Energy Center was established in August 2021 at Ajou University’s Energy Center with support from Suwon City. The center will carry out projects involving industry, academia, research institutes, and citizens to drive community-centered energy transition through May 2023.
