Energy problems have risen as an important issue to the international society. The global demand for energy resources is increasing, while the supply of energy resources is not easily accessible due to environmental pollution and limited natural resources. These energy problems are largely attributable to policy decisions through technical analysis of new renewable energy, fossil energy, and nuclear energy fields. In this regard, training and educating experts is requiring worldwide. The energy problems have a complex characteristic that it is closely related to various social issues such as politics, economy, industry, and environment, but also directly related to basic science and engineering. Therefore, now, internationally, experts who solve energy problems must possess the understanding of social science, basic science, and engineering knowledge and be able to apply them to the solution of energy issues in a balanced manner. Department of Energy Studies (Energy Science and Policy) in the Graduate School of International Studies at Ajou University wish to foster the above advanced workforce, experts that are encouraged to propose and prioritize policies through interpretation of the field of energy technology, as well as an engineering, social, and scientific understanding of the whole energy system.
