UPDATE on SPECIAL ENTRY PROCEDURE

We have an urgent notice to all international students who arrived from March 12th. As of today, KDC(Korean Disease Control) and Ministry of Education have announced the followings, and we apologize for this sudden notice and ask for everyone’s understanding due to unpredictable changes worldwide recently:

have to go through SPECIAL ENTRY PROCEDURE and be self-isolated for 14 days.

  • Since Korea has already more than 7,000 COVID19 confirmed cases, this is a measure to block the flow of risk factors from Europe into Korea announced today(March.13th 16:00)
  • One dormitory building will be designated as a Quarantined facility for 2 weeks (14 days)
  • When check-in to the Quarantine facility, students will be asked to complete the survey questionnaire regarding their health status as well as places coming from and etc. and will be guided accordingly.
  • Each student will be placed to use a single room.
  • Passport copy (check departure, transit, entry stamp page) and airline ticket copy must be submitted upon check-in the facility.
  • All students will be asked to install mobile self-diagnosis app (regarding how to install please refer  http://www.ajou.ac.kr/en/news/news02.jsp?mode=view&article_no=208718&board_wrapper=%2Fen%2Fnews%2Fnews02.jsp&pager.offset=0&board_no=203
  • With this decision made by the Korean government, Ajou university has decided that all students who come after March 13th regardless of the above countries will be self-isolated for 14 days at the University dormitory
  • During the 14 days of self-isolation, meals and basic necessities will be supported and partially paid by the University.
  • The above decision applied to the students who arrived today(March 13th) and have checked into the dormitory already, and these students will be asked to move to the self-isolation facilities (on-campus housing).
  • If students do not agree with the above conditions of quarantine, they will be asked to stay outside of the campus and students have to find the appropriate housing to stay for two weeks. During the self-quarantine, students will be asked to check your body temperature daily for two weeks and report to OIA daily, you must not leave the room, and stay connected with the OIA staff (the process will be informed to the respective students).

We completely understand the frustration and the difficult situation you are facing, and we apologize for this sudden notice and would like to ask for your kind understanding again due to the unpredictable changes with the COVID19 worldwide.

With this sudden change, any student who wants to postpone their study semester to fall 2020 will be allowed
