Ajou’s Dean of the College of Humanities Man Ghyu PAK is elected as the first President of the Council of Humanities College Deans from Private Universities

On April 15th, Man Ghyu PAK, Ajou University Dean of the College of Humanities, was elected as the first President of the Council of Humanities College Deans from Private Universities during its inaugural meeting held at the University.
 
 
Members of the Council hail from forty-two universities including Ajou, Yonsei, Sungkyunkwan, Hanyang, Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, Chosun, Dong-A, Wonkwang, Sangji, and Pai Chai. Seven vice presidents, including Dean Jong Bok Kim from Kyung Hee, and two auditors were also appointed. The leadership election was followed by presentations on pending issues regarding humanities by Dean Eun Ju Kwak from Sejong University and Dean Ki Yong Choi from Kwangwoon University.
 
 
After being appointed as the first president, Pak said, “I will focus on the following areas: actively participating in evaluating government policies and related systems regarding humanities education and in the relevant policy-making; seeking ways to induce the business community to change its perception of humanities colleges; exploring ways to improve education and research at humanities colleges; and finding ways for humanities colleges to enhance their status within respective universities.”
