On the morning of June 30th, Ajou University (President Dong Yeon Kim) signed an agreement on joint academic research and additional bilateral cooperation with the Korea Food Research Institute (KFRI, President Yong Kon Park) in the University's Yulgok Hall.

During the signing ceremony, Ajou's President Kim and KFRI President Park signed and exchanged the agreement (pictured above). The two institutions will join forces in planning research programs and carrying out tasks involving industry, academia, and research institutes; operating research institute-academia courses at the Graduate School and assisting student exchange; exchanging research talents and information; and promoting research policy and culture that are science and technology-friendly. The ceremony was attended by Executive Vice President for Industry-Academia Cooperation Kyung Hee Choi, Dean Hye Sun Kim of the College of Natural Sciences, and Dean Moon Sook Yoo of the College of Nursing from the University, and Director Myeong Ho Kim of the Division of Food Safety, Distribution, and Standard Research and Director Seong Il Lim of the Strategy and Planning Division from KFRI.

President Park said, "KFRI will be able to make world-class achievements in the research and development projects that are being carried out if we work together with Ajou's excellent talents," adding, "I hope that this agreement will lead to an effective partnership that can benefit both of our institutions."

President Kim said, "KFRI is known as the only government-invested research institute that specializes in foods. I believe that there are many areas of potential synergy if our two institutions join hands," adding, "We will be able to see substantial progress over time if we start from the areas in which it is easier to make a difference."
