소장인사말

아주대학교 공과대학 건축학과장 차희성

It is a pleasure to welcome you to the Priority Research Center, Molecular Science and Technology Research Center (MSTRC) of Ajou University. Since its inception in 2009, this research center has been actively engaged in the exciting challenge of Green Initiative Technologies. This center is being supported by a 9-year (2009 - 2018) research grant from the Priority Research Centers Program through the National Research Foundation of Korea.

A major responsibility of the center is to create awareness about Green Technologies and develop alternatives to technologies that may pose a threat to health and environment. As a part of Green Technology Initiatives, our center has progressed well into the design, synthesis and characterization of new functional polymers and nano-biomaterials in order to reduce or eliminate the use and generation of hazardous substances. We will focus on bio-imaging technologies having in vivo application. We would also like to extend our green research into the production and efficient management of diverse antibodies which can be used for natural innate immunity stimulation.

The main objective of our center is to build a World Class Institute which will primarily focus on the production of eco-friendly products. We aim to build our human capital by implementing training programs to grow new research talent and ultimately achieve a unique position among the top ten research hubs worldwide. As a dynamic institute we also look outward and engage with scientists from different disciplines to identify and participate in such research activities. Further, we would like to create awareness about the advantages of green products utilization and spread our knowledge about the hazardous substances that have a negative impact on our environment.

The health and sustainability of all are equally dependent on the environmental processes and what we do as individuals. Hence, the stakes are high and as we are a part of our ecosystem, our environment depends on how we live our lives. The possibility of successfully manufacturing Green Products is very promising, thus proving to be instrumental in building an eco-friendly community that truly protects our planet. We invite you to join us in our quest for developing eco-friendly products and create innovative solutions for improving the sustainability of our ecosystems.
