2015-12-07

The '2015 GREATIVE Industry-Academia Cooperation Festival’ kicked off on the morning of December 7th in Ajou University's College Academic Building.

The Festival was prepared to spread the accomplishments and best practices, and discover new models of Industry-Academia Cooperation for the Creative Economy. It began with the opening ceremony on that day, and will be held over a week until December 11th.

The opening ceremony featured a report on accomplishments of Industry-Academia Cooperation, a presentation of impressive cases from Ajou's Global Campus - the After You Program, and an MOU signing with the World-OKTA (Overseas Korean Traders Associations). In the afternoon, President Jae Won Kwak of the Gyeonggi Institute of Science & Technology Promotion gave a special lecture entitled "Why should it be Gwangyo and Pangyo now?"

In addition, many other interesting programs, which will encourage participation of Ajou personnel and provide a vision of global Industry-Academia Cooperation, will be held, including: Special lectures and education on global industry-academia cooperation; Seminar and exhibition of project achievements; a Counseling booth for corporate financing, technological commercialization, and business startups, etc.; a Tour of the Gyeonggi Center for the Creative Economy & Innovation in Pangyo; the Talk concert on business start-ups for young people (presided by Vice President Cheol Gyun Kim of Coupang); and Join the President for a special drone class.

Executive Vice President for Industry-Academia Cooperation Kyung Hee Choi said, "This festival will be an opportunity for exchanges among industries, academic and research institutes, and public organizations including local governments, and for expanding global cooperation between industries and academia through the World-OKTA that is building its presence abroad. I hope that it will help Ajou and the local community to open up a new chapter in developing hand-in-hand through industry-academia cooperation."

In his welcome speech, President Dong Yeon Kim said, "Ajou will try to accomplish the vision of combining industry-academia cooperation and globalization," adding, "In that regard, we will explore a new frontier that no other universities and communities have reached so far."
