Ajou University’s Professor Kyo Beum Lee (Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, right in above picture) won the Academic Award from the Korean Institute of Electrical Engineers (KIEE) during its regular General Meeting, which was held on December 11th in the Korean Federation of Science and Technology Societies' building.

KIEE presents academic awards to researchers who have contributed to the development of electrical engineering by having many papers published in its journal over the past five years. Professor Lee also received a plaque of appreciation in acknowledgement of his contributions to the growth of the journal, which is listed on the Science Citation Index.

Professor Lee said, “I would like to thank the graduate students in my laboratory who have worked hard in a challenging environment in which a limited number of students had to deal with many projects,” adding, “I believe KIEE expected me to work even harder when it gave me this award, and I will make every effort to meet the expectation.”

Established in 1947, KIEE is one of the largest academic societies in South Korea with about 10,000 regular members. Its research activities cover five areas – power engineering, electrical machinery and energy conversion systems, electro-physics and applications, information and control, and electrical facilities. KIEE aims to contribute to industrial advancement by promoting academic activities and developing relevant technologies in the field of electrical engineering.
