Signing Ceremony for the Joint Research & Development Contract with GM KOREA

Ajou University and GM Korea signed a contract for joint research and development in Conference Room 1 on the main campus on Dec 15, 2011 (Thurs). The ceremony was attended by Christophe Mangin, GM R&D Director; Sung Yong Park, director of GM Korea; Jae-Seok Yoo, research director of Ajou University; Do-Yeong Kim, external cooperation director of Ajou University; Yoon-Ho Choi, dean of the Engineering College of Ajou University; Min-Seong Hong, mechanical engineering director of Ajou University; Chi-Beom Shin, professor in the Energy Systems Engineering Department of Ajou University amongst others. Following the ceremony, the participants looked around automotive research offices and labs.

The joint research and development contract with GM Korea is particularly meaningful in that the global automotive company recognizes Ajou University as its ideal partner for industry-academic cooperation and personal exchanges. To Ajou University, the contract also signifies that it satisfies GM’s requirements pertaining to the research capabilities of its academic partner.

GM has entered into joint research and development contracts with prestigious universities around world. The contract with Ajou University demonstrates that the global automotive company recognizes that Ajou ranks alongside other prestigious universities around the world in terms of automotive technology research. The organizations that have signed a joint research and development contract with GM go through a simplified procedure when they intend to carry out a joint project or business in the future, which speeds up the internal approval process.
