Ajou University has received a plaque of recognition from the National Institute for International Education, a division of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, for the university’s contribution to foreign scholar education and for its international exchange program.

The International Cooperation Office of Ajou University revealed that the university received the plaque during the Korean Government Scholar Award Ceremony and New Year’s Eve event, which was held on December 21, 2012. Other recipients of the plaque were Silla University, the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Seattle, and the Korea Tourism Organization.

The National Institute for International Education is an agency that leads the government’s scholarship program. A spokesperson for the agency said that “Ajou University has cooperatively engaged in education for international students, who are invited by the Korean government, and in international exchange programs. For that matter, the institution appreciates Ajou University for its significant contributions to the academic development of international students and for its promotion of international exchanges.”

The Korean government-sponsored scholarship program is jointly organized by the International Cooperation Office, the Ajou Language Institute, and the Graduate School at Ajou University.
