All undergraduate students are required to take English 1 and 2. They are placed according to their English level (determined through a placement test and an interview with a native English-speaking professor). The English Writing Clinic provides individual tutoring, continuous assistance with English for all undergraduate and graduate students.
Ajou Debate seeks to help students develop a comprehensive range of communication skills, as well as the competence and capabilities of mature democratic citizens that include logical problem-solving and appropriately responding to societal questions of the age we live in.
With the rapid expansion of the production and distribution of knowledge alongside changes in the knowledge and information environment, the acquisition of knowledge based on rote memory and cramming are losing efficacy. This course focuses on reading classics in various fields as a way to develop in-depth thinking skills, flexible perspectives, and the capability to produce meaningful knowledge in a changing environment, and thereby increasing understanding and developing insight, analytical skills, and a critical mind.
