IDB Korea LAC Tech Corps Program(PIIM)

Program Overview

The Inter-American Development Bank (Bank), with the financial support of the Knowledge Partnership Korea Fund for Technology and Innovation, approved a Technical Cooperation to enhance the institutional capacity of LAC public institutions by providing full scholarships to mid-level public officials to pursue a master’s degree in Public Management with an ICT-related focus in Korean universities and support innovation projects in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) by promoting knowledge transfer from the Republic of Korea (Korea) in areas of information and communication technology (ICT).

Public Innovative ICT Management (PIIM) program is
to empower mid-level public managers with a comprehensive understanding ofthe latest ICT trends and innovative managerial insights.

  1. Duration : February 2025 ~ August, 2026 (18 months)
  2. Objectives
    • ① Improving the analytical and managerial skills of mid-level public officials in LAC countries with an enriched understanding of ICT-related areas
    • ② Facilitating an ongoing dialogue and exchange of knowledge between public officials from Korea and LAC countries
  3. Degree Title : Master of Public Management (MPM) and joint MBA in AI/IT Business
  4. Program : The entire program will be conducted in English (except Korean Language Course)Lectures, Field Trip & Industrial visiting, Culture Experience(Forums, K-culture)
Eligibility
  1. Be a citizen among the 26 eligible LAC Countries
    - Argentina, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Guyana, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, Uruguay, Venezuela
  2. Graduated with a bachelor’s degree or higher no later than December 31st, 2023
  3. Minimum of 5-year working experience in the government office or public sector
  4. English Proficiency Level(Highly recommended)

Scholarship

    The following expenses will be covered by IDB during the participant’s stay in Korea.

  • A full tuition waiver
  • Accommodation
  • Allowance for living expenses
  • Health insurance
  • A roundtrip to and from Korea, etc.

  • *It is expected admitted students to live on-campus. Most of the accommodation are two-bedroom, a limited number of one bedroom accommodation would be offered. Students living with family members must look for accommodation outside of campus. Outside accommodation is not included as part of the scholarship.
